Our Story

Foreshore, Since 1984

Based in Vancouver BC, Foreshore has provided marine, environmental, construction and technical services for over 38 years.

Foreshore’s qualified professionals have worked along coastal North America from Alaska to New Orleans and Atlantic Canada to New York State with a primary focus in British Columbia including over 100 coastal and interior communities from Haida Gwaii to Southern Vancouver Island.

Projects completed ranged in magnitude from the private dock owner to large port and municipal infrastructure projects.

1990s

Since 1996 Foreshore have utilized the Toad Sled™ to map over 2,000 kilometres of coastal British Columbia. The Toad Sled™ was designed to meet large scale sub-tidal habitat mapping requirements as well as swift water surveys.

Foreshore created and developed an developed innovative product called the Piezo-Electric Engineered Resonator (PEER) System in 1999. The PEER system, which uses ultrasonics to accurately determine the condition of timbers, is used to perform inspections.

2000s

In 2002, Balanced Environmental Services Inc was registered as a separate company. As the environmental aspect of Foreshore, the company provides environmental consulting specializing in shoreline rehabilitation and in obtaining governmental approvals for projects in or around the shoreline.

2010s

In 2018 Foreshore expanded its’ service offerings still further by becoming a part of the Briggs Marine Group (www.briggsmarine.com) and now offers expertise in the areas of subsea cables, oil and gas terminal operations, inshore and offshore salvage, oil spill response, and wind farm installation/maintenance.

2020s

2022 saw Foreshore pass its first surveillance audit from NQA. Obtaining this achievement allows the operations to continue holding the accreditation and demonstrates the commitment to ISO standards in occupational health and safety (45001:2018), Environmental Management (14001:2015) and Quality Management (9001:2015).
